Services today announced the 2010 Railcar Maintenance Management Seminar will be
held May 24-26 in Denver, CO at the Ritz-Carlton, Denver. Now in its 4th year,
the annual conference for railcar maintenance and fleet managers is designed to
highlight industry developments including new rules and regulations, new
railroad technology, and new management tools.
The seminar intends to teach maintenance managers skills and strategies to
maintain a safe, efficient, and cost-effective railcar fleet. From an
entry-level “Railcar 101” to “Fleet Optimization: Key Performance Indicators”,
leaders in the technology development and delivery fields offer useful advice
for a fast-evolving industry.
This year’s seminar will focus on the climate of a down economy and its eventual
recovery, offering tools for planning, positioning, and strategy. With a record
number of cars in storage and limited capacity at repair shops, managers need a
plan to meet demand without costly delays or expensive repairs. Carol
Scarborough of DTETS emphasizes the role of technology in planning, “As private
car owners and shippers, we need to embrace the technology the rail industry is
providing and use that information to make better management decisions.”
